In a survey carried out by ‘Travel Supermarket ‘ in 2011 of over 2,000 UK adults, results showed that over 50% said they were disappointed in a hotel they had stayed in, having expected more given its rating.
A recent report entitled ‘Intermediaries As Quality Assessors’ showed that out of 134 Hotels with Official Ratings of 2 and 3 star, customers had an overall chance of approximately 1 in 3 of the hotels being awarded a higher rating through Thomson.
Commenting on results from recent surveys, Bob Atkinson from The Travel Super Market said ‘Your choice of hotel can make a big difference to whether you have a great holiday or a bad one. With high percentages of people being disappointed with hotels based on their star rating, there is far too much vagary around star ratings which do not guarantee you will be happy with your hotel.’
